A quick Trip To Fort New Amsterdam

A couple of weeks ago I went on a quick evening trip with my language instructor Sigfried and his brother Reynold to Fort new Amsterdam. A few photos from the evening are here.HERE.

Bigi Broki Waka

Last Sunday I did the Bigi Broki Waka. It was a fun walk With a 5km and 10km run. I went with Siegfried Gerling, who is the language instructor teaching me Sranan Tongo, and we both did the walk. I took a few pictures of the day which can be found HERE.

About 5000 participated in the event, with serveral people, about 60-100 running.

Now that I'm starting to use my photo galleries a little more, I thought I would put up more of my photos from Brownsberg and Tonka Island. A larger set of photos can be found HERE.

The uploads are taking considerably longer then I expected. It took me a week but they are finially up. It way too long to upload the higher res photos. So from now on I'm going to be only uploading lower res photos while in Suriname.

News Years In Suriname

Well the last week has been a festive affair with the crescendo, building to Midnight on New Years. The amount of fire works let off around town was incredible, with almost everyone lighting something off that would explode. Pictures can’t do it justice.

Equally overwhelming was the level of celebration that occurred, with parties everywhere.

The little girl in the picture, asked me to take her photo, as I was taking some photos in the Old Part of Paramaribo, I gave her my blog address on a piece of paper, as it is the only way I could pass the photo on to her. Hopefully she gets it.

Visit To Stichting Claudia

On Dec 28 Me And the other Cross Roaders stopped off at Stichting Claudia, an organization to help families or children affected by HIV, to drop off some supplies, meet the kids that are there, and introduce ourselves to the staff.
